After the smog and the grime of NYC, I thought that some clean air would probably do me good so I have been in New England for the last few days. I've been in all 6 of the NE states at one point or another and have done a fair bit of driving but some of the places I have seen are beautiful and well worth the miles I've been clocking up. I'm sure that if I was the sort of person who knew a lot of words, I'd be lost for them. As it is, I had to content myself with saying, 'wow' and 'ooh' a lot. If I had a camera, I definitely would've taken some photos. But I don't, so I didn't.
That's kind of been me for the last few days really; stopping at places that sounded interesting and then trying to find a motel when I've started to feel tired. It's all been very liberating, which is just as well, as the welcoming sign on entering New Hampshire, carries the tag-line, "Live free or die." I see what they're trying to say, I think, but there are maybe other ways of saying it. I'm still alive so I must have been living free enough for the people of that particular state. Anyway, it all makes a nice change from my usual 9-5 desk job.
So aside from lots of driving, which I won't describe, plenty of amazing places, which I'm not clever enough to describe, and the usual food and booze, which you don't need me to describe, there's not much else to say.
Am off to Connecticut tomorrow to stay with my mate, Phil for a few days so it'll be nice to talk to another human being rather than the collection of bad toiletry products from various motels that I have become strangely close to. They're quite guarded at first, but once they open up, they're full of fascinating opinions and good ideas.
Thought of the Day
In England, we have 'TK Maxx'. In America, they have 'TJ Maxx'. Why?
For reference
I have driven in, or through, 11 states so far.
I was tempted to stay in the, 'Mic Mac Motel', the other night. I didn't.
