Last UPDATED: April 11, 2013

6th day

In the morning I asked the students

"how are you feeling now that in 2 nights we go home?"

Margie: I will enjoy the remaining days here in Holland.

Romel: I still don't want to go home. Maybe 1 week more here.

Karena: I am not yet thinking about it.

Victorino---did not hear me. Hahahha. Victorino has problem with his ears.

In the afternoon I asked the students how do you feel now guys/ladies?

Karena/Margie/Romel/Victorino: SAD.

Ann.R: Why?

Karena: Because…….

READERS I guess you know why students are sad. This is it! Time so flies here in Netherlands—although sun sets around 9pm=)

FOR THE DUTCHIES Students will never ever forget our time here in your beautiful country.

I can say that they don’t want to go home yet because this is a beautiful and comfortable life they have compare to what they have in the Philippines.

But we need to go home and continue their DREAM---finish studies-get job-help the family/send sisters in school/give money to parents.

It maybe weird for European people to understand the students dream but it is a dream.IT IS A DREAM.

In the Groevenbeek TV3 Globalization subject a boy wearing green jacket shared that students feel that school is some kind of punishment.

As a Filipino hearing it for the 1st time I was shocked. I never heard/thought about that in the Philippines in any students.

Even me feels lazy to attend school (when I was still studying) sometimes…. but in the minds we need to finish school so we have better life after college/university.

Many things to Remember

1.       biking in the woods with the ice slapping your face—very COLD. But Dutchies keep on saying it’s nothing.

2.       On TIME dutchies. We observed that Dutchies are always on time. Generally They don’t have this dialogue “sorry im late”. When we visited the Embassy of the Philippines in the Hague. Ria and Lissane asked us if we feel like we are in the Philippines and our ANSWER is YES because the people there are late..Yeah and we feel quite ashamed of this thing in the Filipino system. =( I believe that being on time always contribute to a good Netherlands country.

3.       If dutchies are shocked that we eat lots of rice, we are also shock that you eat lots of potatoes. Hahahha, in the house of Lissane we had this really typical dutch food. When we are starting to eat=== dutchies are getting food from the table and we thought ähhh they are getting many to share with others…and noooooo it’s for themselves ONLY! wooowwww unbelievable.

4.       Coffee every BREAK…Coffee is everywhere in Netherlands especially this cold time.

5.       Dutchies can eat lunch while walking because they eat breads, but Filipinos can’t do that---it’s hard to eat with spoon and fork with your lunch box in your hands—walking…RIGHT????

6.       Filipino eats with spoon and fork—dutchies fork and knife. Knife is dangerous so Filipino don’t try that at home except you have steak and meal to cut.=)No just kidding! I guess we have spoon and fork always because of rice. The dutchies with fork because they usually have meat and potatoes. Am I right???

7.       Dutchies generally-- I observed that they try their best to make ARTS. In Groevenbeek—arts are everywhere---creative arts! Amazing! In short Dutchies are stylish!

8.       One of the biggest inspiration I can bring in Philippines – is the strong discipline of the dutchies—that is my general observation about them. Discipline in everything they do and I believe that’s the main reason they are a rich country.

9.       We are very warm welkom in the Netherlands.

10.   I was just laughing and laughing yesterday because we are having coffee in the parking lot with pack food in Ria’s car and I remember those men and guys in Permanent Housing and other informal settler (new terminology/word for slum/squatter areas) who used to drink liquor in the streets without shirts on. So I was just imagining if they are here in Netherlands if they can do that in the middle of walking refrigerator..Hahahahahaa..(sorry I bet you didn’t understand me)..
