I've now dived some of the best sites around the world...red sea, Caribbean, great barrier......

But its taken me a while to find anywhere that compares to where I learn't to dive in the Maldives. I've now found somewhere.

If you love diving go to Borneo...it will take you breath away.

Whats make Sipadan so unique is that is an old volcano with reef walls that drop 1000m one side and 6000m the other side, therefore lots of large fish swim past....whale sharks, barracuda, dolphins, whales and all sorts of sharks including the ones that like to taste human!!!

Getting to Sempora the port for Sipadan was a bit of a mission. I slept in so missed my bus, ended up getting a local bus from Sepilok to Sandakan..waited for two hours until a bus filled up, which took me to a jungle town in the middle of nowhere...then had to get a lift on the back on some dudes truck.

Anyway got there, spent the first day snorkeling on Mabul island, where I got stung to buggery by jelly fish..it was like having needles put through me. I want to find the shit that stole my rash vest in Bolivia. During the snorkel I came face to face with the biggest barracuda I'd ever seen...about a meter long and fat. My camera had run out of battery by then, however I did wonder..do these things bite has a sat next to it for about 20mins. One thing that does bit are the Titan trigger fish, again big buggers that swim next to you give you a warning...the week before one broke a girls check and gave her 14 stitches.

Next day was spectacular....I came to find sharks and my god did I find them.

My first dive was almost 40mins in until I saw a couple of reefs sharks, but the second dive was superb.

Straight after descending we had reef sharks all around us, we were warned there could also potentially be tigers and bull sharks down here...but not today...we did however see three meter long Grey reefs...enough to get the heart pounding.

The best was yet to come...between two gaps in the reef wall was a huge group of Jacks. Check out the photos there must be at least over 500. It was like I was in the middle of a BBC documentary, just like the BLUE PLANET. We got so close to the bate ball the fish swam around around us...just truly amazing..and i have some fantastic video footage to show everyone when I get back.

More wonderful sites at every glace..turtles, more sharks, large schools of sweet lips and huge bat fish. Even more barracuda!!!!!

Could it get any better...hell yes. While having lunch on the boat we had the company of dolphins and on our ride back to Sempora we spotted some 6 to 9 meter long pilot whales.

What a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just one last note from the day, on the bus on the way back again I got treated to some Asian karaoke videos. Bizarrely this time it was a combination of local Borneo dancing/singing then the monk burst into some rapping and dudes with baseball caps started break dancing. Sort of sums up the weird things that happen out here in Asia.
