Argh this Internet cafe is doing my head in, lots of school kids playing interactive games on the Internet....

Back to my time in Singapore and a brief stop over. I took an Airasia flight from Jakarta over to Batam the island south of Singapore, then took the 45 mins ferry journey over to the island city.

First impressions of the city were everything I expected, clean, modern and people with money. In fact I was worried about crossing the road, where to sit...in fact most things due to heavy fining here. In fact the laws have been relaxed here recently, they even let people Bungee jump here now, as it was banned before.

So after cleaning up it started to discover the city. Believe it or not more people live here than on the whole New Zealand and as you travel outside the city area the high tower blocks are viable. Its here where I started to see the different cultures also crammed into this small island. Due mass migration over here there is vibrant Chinese, Arabic and Indian community. All practice three religions opening and with out any visible conflict. The temple in all three districts are spectacular, with many praying inside and of course many churches are also dotted around the city.

My second day I spent the day at Mt Faber looking at views across the city and the old jail to learn about the history of the second World War. In the afternoon I mostly lost myself around the financial districts and the endless underground malls!!!

That night tired from all the walking I got on my air-con coach complete with massage leather chairs and personal movies, ready for the over night journey to Kuala Lumpar.
