Our longest drive yet, almost 12 hours worth from Port Stephens up the coast to Byron Bay.
We left just before lunch time, grabbed some food for later and started on the journey, with was to have its trials.
Two hours into our journey, I was pulled over by the police and given a speeding fine, absolutely gutted as I was doing the equivalent of 70mph on a high way. We had just moved from a 110kph zone down to 100kph, I was doing 119 when pulled over. They normally give 15kph so just over and a dent into my budget for OZ. Which isn't going that well because everything is so much over expensive over here than in South America.
Further up we swapped drivers and I tried to ring up for accommodation in Byron Bay, all the hostels were booked up. We had the choice stay in Coffs Harbor or continue North, we decided to try our luck in Byron.
Once here the place was packed with holiday makers, all the hostels full, even motels full. Gutted we sat eating pizza, ready for a night on the beech!!! I decided to check my email one more time, I had been emailing my friends Sammy and Siobhan I had met in Brazil, i knew Sammy lived somewhere near here.
Soooo lucky Siobhan had emailed me, I gave her a ring and YES Sammy could put us up for the night. We drove 40 minutes up the coast to Tweed Heads where Sammy lived, every so gratefully put us up for the night.
The next day we had our first look at there beautiful house on a river, with swimming pool in the back. During the day we chilled on there local beech and in the evening we took the speed boat for a ride down to the pub, how cool is that. We had a great feed in the evening and made our way back to Byron the day after.
