Iīve been in Cuenca now for two days and this comes close to beating Antigua in Guatemala as my favourite colonial spanish town. The place is just beautiful, sat of the bank of a river and packed with old buildings, including church after church.

I travelled down from Quito on an over night bus, about a 9 hour journey. But didnīt remember more as I popped some sleeping pills, its the future of bus journerys!!!!

I travelled with Rod and Claire who I meet on the Galapagos trip, tonight we are going on the lash in Cuenca. Tomorrow is going to be painful with a 4 hour trip to Machala and then the border crossing to Peru. My folks are meeting me in Brazil at the end of October, so I need to get my skates on!!! Theres some old cites in the North of Peru, but I hope to be in Cusco in about a week. There I can chill out and spend some time checking out the Inca lost cities...helll yeah.

Definetly back on the gringo trail, spent 50p on breakfast, 75p on lunch and got dinner for 2 pounds. Hostel is 2.50 a night and beer is 50p for a large bottle. I love developing countries!!! The hostel even has views over the city...great.

See you in Peru....
