Yes I'm finally in Ultia after three days of solid travelling, but first I must talk about Chichen Itza.

After a sad fairwell to Lou I jumped on the next bus available for Valladolid, which was unfortuantely a local bus that stopped everywhere on route and didn't take the highway. I got to Valladolid quite late a stuggled to find somewhere to stay and ended up in a fairly expensive hotel, because all the hostels were full.

I booked my early morning bus for 7am in the morning, I got a good night sleep with air conditioning. I caught my ride early on and booked my tickets to Tulum later in the day. I arrived at Chichen Itza for opening and had the central courtyard pretty much to myself for half an hour, you can see this from the photos of me outside the famous pyramid. The ball court there was massive with carvings of the sarifices after the game, i'm still not sure which team was killed, some books say the losers, some say the winners!!!

Around the back of the main area are large columns and a path way that leads to an observatory. The most disappoting aspect of the site is that you can't climb any of the buildings, theres famous picture of a statue of a main sitting holding a cup where sacficial blood was poured. You can't even see this now, or see the temple inside el castillo.

After 2 hours at the site I left realising why you couldn;t climb the structures. As i waited for a local bus one coach after another of fat americans arrived from cancun or playa del carmen. Most of them a real embrashment to themselves, obese blokes in wife beaters and somberos with viva mexico on. Shame they spoil it for the rest of us!!!

After a quick shower I started on my journey......
