Windsor
I hadn't planned going to Windsor today, I was going to go surfing, but the wind was non existent so I decided to travel the short distance from my Nan's to Windsor. It took me a while to find signs for the Castle, but I soon found the traffic jams and decided to park just outside the city centre. After a brief walk I found the visitors entrance, this was a bit of a surprise because I thought you would have to book to go into the castle. I spent about an hour wondering the grounds before moving into the apartments. What a pleasant surprise. Inside contained vast halls with paintings, armoury and artefacts from around the world, showing off the history of the British Empire. During the tour inside many fellow tourists packed around the windows, to my surprise the queen was outside welcoming guesses, I suppose it's not that big of a surprise considering she still lives in the castle. The only disappointment was the closure of St Georges Chapel due to Sunday service. In all I spent about three hours in Windsor, a day well spent and another of the UK's treasures seen.
