August 18:
Rest day in La Paz.

August 19:
Huayna Potosi (6,088m) is a very popular climb near La Paz, Bolivia...probably because it is the easiest 6000M peak in the country. We left La Paz at 6:00am by public bus and arrived at the trailhead around 7:30am. At the last minute we decided to dayhike the peak so we cached our overnight gear and pressed on.
It took us 5h45m from trailhead to summit....and for a change, we were warm...almost too warm.
Along the way, we met a guy who was completely blind who was on his way down from the mountain and helped by a local guide...simply amazing!
Later in the afternooon we decided to spend the night near the trailhead and catch the public bus the next day.

August 20
Bad weather today. We lucked out with the weather yesterday. Today all we have to do is get a ride to the big city...after 3 hours of waiting for a ride in the fog and wind, we decide to start walking downhill. It keeps us warm!
We pass by an "abandonned mine" and a creepy-looking Miner's cemetary.
