I have the most amazing suitcase. It rolls so smoothly...All I have to do is push instead of pull and it just flows across the floor. So nice...
I opened my laptop thinking that I would just jot some things down but then I saw there were some wireless connections available, but so far no luck.
Today I woke up excited. I had kind of packed last night, but I just couldn't get into it. It still feels like this trip should be months away instead of any minute now.
FYI, getting euros two days before your trip to Europe is more difficult than one would realize. My bank practically blew me off (politely), the bank up the street from my bank said no, but they at least asked around. According to them (and I had heard this from another fairly reliable source) there's an American Express office near the mall that exchanged currency, so this morning I trekked to the office building, where the security officer told me that American Express had moved their office to DC three or four months ago. I suppose I'll just have to get some from the airport.
After I got home and had lunch, more packing was involved and then another outing to Best Buy to find some decent head phones. More packing, and when everyone got home from work I declared myself packed and we headed out the door to pick up Mrs Jones.
Having walked 1 ½ - 2 miles this morning I've been sleepy all day. But I am determined to save my sleep for the plane. I dozed off in the car a bit, but after picking up Ms Jones, my sister and I kept up a steady stream of humorous nothings ('so this episode of Bernie Mac that Stephen and I were just watching...') in the backseat so I was plenty awake during the not quite 2 hr drive up to Philadelphia airport.
Once we pulled up to the airport, it was impossible for Dad and Anne to come with us, so we hugged goodbye and went into the airport. Everything has gone really smoothly, except for one incident involving a pair of scissors in a certain someone's carry on, and now we're just waiting.
It's 10:06. We should start boarding in 20 minutes. Then hopefully all the sleep I've been warding off all day will wash over me during our 8 hr flight and I'll be able to close my eyes and not dwell on the flight.
We were both hungry, so we got food at some overpriced sandwich place here in the airport. We sat quietly in our chairs and ate our sandwiches and then Ms Jones went through all her stuff and put everything back in its proper bag.
This wi-fi is ticking me off. It will not connect for me.
Mrs Jones has just told me the staff is boarding. Observation of ours: there are a lot of teenagers here. Spring break perhaps? There's a group of them sitting behind us, and they are most clearly a group that thinks very highly of themselves.
I hope we board soon, I'm ready for sleep.
