At Acadia, it was necessary for everyone to use the Necessary because we had a hike to go on, and as it turn out, it was a long, long, long, long, hike. We drove up to the top of Cadillac Mountain. It is about 1500 feet above sea level and it is the first place to see the sun in the US.

Mr. Nish never did this hike before so it was a real adventure. The Ranger at the visitor center said it was just over 2 miles and would take about 2 hours to hike down. Most of us enjoyed or pretended to enjoy the journey down. Others wanted to do things to Mr. Nish that we cannot say on this blog because this blog is rated G. So, our 2 mile, 2 hour journey turned into a 2 mile, 4 hour journey. People started to have flashbacks, flash forwards, and flash sideways, like the TV show LOST except we were the characters.

The rest of us followed Mr. Nish like sheep. Mr. Washington decided to go his own way. When we did get to the bus, Mr. Washington was not there. He did show up later and learned two valuable life lessons: Always follow the person with the map and the only thing to fear is fear itself (FDR). Here is a list of the wounded (that we know of):

Nicole – sore ankle
Samantha – sore ankle
Chris' Mom – sore ankle
Korey’s Mom – laceration on the leg and arm
Mr. Nish – bruised ego

We started the hike at 10 am and finished by 1:40 pm so everyone was tired, hungry, and really had to use the necessary. The sub sandwiches we had for lunch were delicious and huge. After lunch, we reflected upon the life lessons of the hike. As a class, we came up with six life lesson: 1. Be prepared, 2. Have perseverance, 3. Never give up, 4. Try your best, 5. If you fall, get up again, 6. The only thing to fear is fear itself (FDR).

We had free time at the Sand Beach. Many were digging holes. Kaylen was jumping around and purposely fell. The Atlantic Ocean was clear and cold. We will be back tomorrow to learn more of this area.
