We started the day with a healthy breakfast of eggs, bacon, corned beef hash, sausage patties, fried potatoes, biscuits and gravy, toast with butter, bagels with cream cheese, and sugary cereal in a box. For some reason they also had fresh fruit, oatmeal, yogurt, milk, and fresh juice, but we had none of that.
The bus ride to Monticello was short. We saw and learned a lot of Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson had over 200 workers at Monticello. His garden grew over 200 types of vegetables and fruits. The ice house and kitchen were below his house. His house had a lot of Native American artifacts, he had a fossil of a mastodon jaw, and antlers of animals from west of the Mississippi River.
