This morning we got up to blue skies, what a surprise.  Was beautiful, we went jogging along the harbor of Akaroa, but by the time we were done with breakfast it rained again.

After another off road adventure, we arrived in Christchurch (population around 300,000), very green city, cute center, some pics attached.

We moved on along to coast to Kaikoura, a old whaler village, nice location on a bay with snow covered mountains in the background. Nice view from our Motel Room.  This of course changed the next morning when we were not even able to see across the bay because of rain and clouds. Unfortunately, the whale watching boats did not go out due to the high winds and low visibility.

So we continued our journey up the east coast, through one of the wine regions of NZ to Picton.  There we caught the ferry to Wellington on the North Island, capital of NZ. Some native rain dancer must follow us, I heard the weather forecast for the South Island is pretty good now but the North Island is supposed to get the storms starting tonight.
