Where I stayed
Montevideo is the capital of Uruguay, probably half of the countries population lives here. It is situated along the banks of the Rio de la Plata, which is also the natural border to Argentina.
This morning we walked along the Rio de la Plata for about 10 - 12 km to the Port of Montevideo. We did not know but it appears that part of the area we walked was considered dangerous, too dangerous even for the police. Anyway, we reached our destination of Mercado del Puerto, which is a very old building in the port, earlier it was used to sell fish, produce and meat. This was a really cool place, now there are lots of BBQ restaurants and little shops in this building. I have attached some pics. These guys are very serious about their BBQ and eating meat. Not a bad passion to have, I might add.
We walked back through the old town of the city, very nice, clean and friendly. Lots of plazas and historic buildings.
