Where to begin, where to begin, where to begin.

As in life, this trip has changed ten-fold over the last couple of weeks.  The agenda, locations and travelers going with me have evolved on several occasions.  Though I'm disappointed certain individuals will not be able to make this trip (they surely will be missed), it should prove to be an exciting adventure with fun compadres.  To those that know me, it won't come as a surprise that this trip has truly been thrown together with buddy passes, discounts and rare findings.  Personally, with a long year and week behind me, this trip couldn't come at a better time.  It will be interesting to see how it all unfolds.

A brief overview of what's to come:

Our first stop will be London, England.  Being of Welsh decent, I've always had a fascination with London and have craved visiting the bustling city many of times.  It doesn't hurt that I could listen to an Englishman for hours upon hours (smile).  My dear friend Renee has set us up in one of the finest hotels in London at a 70% discounted rate.  Could it get any better?!

We'll be staying at The Landmark London Hotel.  The hotel is in close proximity to many of London’s most popular attractions such as Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, The London Eye, St Paul’s Cathedral, Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.  I am looking forward to taking my morning runs along the river and through all these attractions.  What better way to see a city and clear the mind than with your running shoes?!

Renee's boyfriend, Andy, has introduced us to a few chaps that live in London.  Apparently, they are fine with taking out three lovely ladies from the states.  My hopes for this leg of the trip is to go where the locals go and get the feel for the life of London's inhabitants.

On the 24th, we'll take the Chunnel to Paris, France where we will meet up with the finale of Le Tour de France.  Because I am not in charge of this portion of our trip, I'm limited to what I can share at the time being.  What I can share is that Lance Armstrong, Contador, Levi Leipheimer, and Geraint Thomas might want to add a few men to their security detail because this chick plans on getting a few photos and signatures out of these four.  We'll see if it happens--wish me luck!

Starting on the 26th, we will take the Eurorail down to Barcelona.  There, we will be staying with my friend, Alberto, whom I met on a bus in Costa Rica a couple of years ago.  He has graciously invited the three of us to stay in his flat while he stays with his family and children next door.  I am looking forward to catching up with him and seeing the sights of Espana.

So, could it get any better?  Apparently, it can and will.  Two days and counting till I embark on this journey.  I pray for it to be safe, fun and reflective.
