Well, I have started work. Norton Rose London were good enough to give me a three month contract so I started on Monday with a sh*tload of training and all that boring stuff. I've been told that if I put in 10% of the effort of a Melbourne secretary then I'll still be doing too much! So hopefully they'll think I'm nice enough that they keep me on once the three months is up - fingers crossed!
The office is right on the River Thames overlooking Tower of London and Tower Bridge, just a short walk from London Bridge underground. It's in a good location, however no shops nearby - I consider this a good thing, because it means I wont be able to go out shopping at lunchtimes and spend all my (not so) hard-earned pounds!
Gearing up for the Royal Ascot races next weekend, and hope to spot a glimpse of old mate Liz (aka the Queen of England) if she decides we are worthy of her company. I expect that she will take particular note of our drinking prowess and invite us to join her in her exclusive area so that we can show her how good us Aussies really are! Stay tuned for photos and reports!
Nat arrives on Monday and joins me in the office on Tuesday, so that will be good fun to have her on board and we can start making a dent in the list of things we set out to do while we're here. (Let it be known that the Church is low on the list after having seen how it all works hahaha! I fail to see how £10 for four cans of Fosters in a plastic bag is a bargain - Fosters is rubbish.)
Gemma and I have settled in nicely into our house in Acton. The housemates (5 others) are all really nice and friendly, and we've had a few drinking occasions with them already - there's never any need to convince anyone to have a drink - whether that's a good thing or not is something I'm still unsure of!). I have blisters all over my feet from all the walking I've been doing, but I'm hoping that burns off all the beer carbs!
Speaking of beer... I better stop typing.
