Saludos desde Cabo Haitiano. Como algunos de ustedes saben, estoy trabajando en la Parroquia del Sagrado Corazón, en la Diócesis de Cabo Haitiano. Somos tres Misioneros Oblatos: el párroco, el vicario y el diácono (este último reportando).
Estoy aprendiendo mucho sobre la historia de Haití. Por recomendación del Dr. R. Alvarado, rimero leí "Mountains Beyond Mountains", el interesantísimo libro de Tracy Kidder sobre el Dr. Paul Farmer. Y recientemente terminé la lectura de "The Uses of Haiti", este último escrito por Paul Farmer (recomendación de la Dra. M. Cimperman).
Ya escribí y prediqué mis primeras dos homilías en francés - una de ellas fue traducida al creol. Breves y leídas, pero ¡es el comienzo!

Greetings from Cap-Haitien. As some of you know, I am working at Sacred Heart Parish in the Diocese of Cap-Haitien. Three Oblates make up the team: the Pastor, the Vicar (or Associate Pastor), and the Deacon (that would be me).
I am trying to get soaked on historical and cultural context. By reccomendation of Dr. M. Cimperman, I have read Tracy Kidder's "Mountains Beyond Mountains" on Dr. Paul Farmer's work. I have just finished reading "The Uses of Haiti" - this one by Dr. Paul Farmer.
I have already written and delivered my first two homilies in French - one of which was translated into Creole. Though I did read them both, it's a start!
P.S. I have posted some pictures of Cap Haitien and Port-au-Prince. Since I am nothing of an expert in this, you will have to find them for yourselves!

Soy el primer desorientado que te postea, pa que no se queje que lo dejamos solo en esa isla. Yo creo que poco a poco entenderas el creol y bueno hablarlo ya es otra cosa. Esto es solo un breve saludo para que tu pagina no se vea tan deshabitada. escribire mas y mejor despues.

Congratulations on your ordination to the diaconate. Enjoy your internship in Haiti.
I am currently studying at the Milltown Institute in Dublin, Ireland for one semester. My ordination to the diaconate should take place next June in Superior, WI.
I pray that all is well with you, your family, your community, and the parish.
