I'd met Padraig when I was in Ireland and he'd mentioned that he was organising this concert. It started off with a young group of fiddlers from the south side of
Glasgow. There were 8 of them, all in their teens and they were fantastic. Next we had the Drew McManus award for young musicians which was won by a 14 year old boy playing the box. He was up against a fiddle player, a banjo player, a flute player and a pipes player who were all equally as good. We then heard music from a number of excellent Scottish musicians. The night finally came to a close around about 12.30 with around 20 musicians on the stage playing together. It was a fantastic evening and Padraig is hoping to make it an annual event - aiming for bigger next year.
I met lots of interesting people and have found details of a session on a Friday night so watch this space...
