In between my visits to Washington and Montana, I made my way down to Colorado. My good friend Andy was getting married and this was one celebration I did not want to miss! Andy was my roommate while I lived in Germany and we have always kept in touch through out the years.
Another benefit of a Garmischer getting married is that there is always a mini Garmisch reunion. My German gang is getting old but that certainly does not mean we can't throw down when we get together and relieve our glory days.
My old roommate from Las Vegas, Rachael and her brother Jeremy, also live in Colorado, so I was able to stay with them and catch up! They are the type of friends were you can instantly pick up where you left off without any feeling of awkwardness. I love those two! Plus Jeremy makes the best home brew ever! We spent our time hiking with the dogs, catching up on True Blood (come on, you know you love it) and taking her relatives to the beach! I LOVE THE FUSCOS!
Andy's Wedding took place on an island in the middle of a lake by Fort Collins. We had to take a boat to get there! He requested people not to dress up because he wanted his guests to swim and play volleyball. There were canoes, paddle boats and a floating trampoline at our disposal. He also arranged the timing of the cermony so that guest would arrive early and get at least a solid hour of drinking, socializing and playing in so by the time they walked down the aisle, it would be quick side note. It felt weird going to a wedding without being dressed up, so I threw a tie on top of my board shorts and wife beater. During the exchange of vows I felt an unfamiliar feeling (some call it emotion) and my eye started to leak fluid....This does not compute! rebooting system......any-who......Being from Fort Collins, home of.... like...... a million breweries,...the beer at the wedding was top notch.......after being in Taiwan, I think I appreciated it the most! The day after the wedding ,everyone who was left standing went on a giant brewery tour of Fort Collins... so once once the beer gods smiled upon me!
Old Garmishers that attended were. Rachael and Jeremy Fusco, Laura Cummings, Andrea Harris, Vania Plata and Dana Tennis. It was great to catch up with all these fools and meet their husbands. As you can see from the pictures Laura was about to pop and delivered 5 days later.
After the wedding, Vania, Andrea and Josh invited me to go camping with them in Estes National Park. I was super stoked because I loved every aspect of what they wanted to do! They had arranged all the details, all I had to do was jump in the car! We had an amazing time. We drove through the Rocky Mountains, hiked to scenic view points and stayed in a cabin deep in the woods! We even drove the famous Trail Ridge highway. This road is the highest continuous motorway in the United States, with more than eight miles lying above 11,000' and a maximum elevation of 12,183'. We had a panoramic view of the snowy Rockies the whole time! As luck would have it, my camera battery died, but pictures never do justice to scenery like this anyway! This is yet, another magical national park that I have to come back to!
After this everybody flew home, except me....I was busy missing my second flight in a week....for some reason I could not get the dates right and I kept on missing them by a whole day! After scrambling to find phone numbers and explain my stupidity to the 90 year old customer rep I was able to fly the next day to Montana.
