Flying to Sri Lanka from Chennai only took a hour and a half.   I flew Kingfisher airlines which is also India's number one beer.  When I missed my flight the first time I had rebook at the Kingfisher office, while doing this I noticed that only extremely attractive ladies were working there.   Upon boarding my flight once again I notice that all the flight attendants where uncommonly hot.   Later I found out that Kingfisher only hires hot women.  There new slogan should be...... Kingfisher...ugly chicks need not apply........
Not really having a plan I caught a bus from the airport to Colombo to try and figure out my route.   I ended up staying in zone 1 of Colombo which is the most secure area of  the city.  By secure I mean a million military check points to get into that part of the city.  This is because this area contains many things that LTTE would like to blow up!  Oh yeah in case you didn't know Sri Lanka is in the middle of  small civil war.  Occasionally they have bombs go off here and there....here's a fun fact....Sri Lankan LTTE were the first ones to use women and children as suicide bombers
There are no must see sights in Colombo so I just wandered around town trying to fix my phone(I spilled coffee all over it) Once again I sniffed out the local Hash House Harrier Kennel and arranged a ride to the start.   This was my first Men only hash and it turned out to be a lot of fun.  These guys actually had a proper circle at the end.  They even gave me 2 shirts! During the run one of the hashers saw a car hit a bicyclist and kill him!
The next day I couldn't decide weather to travel the north first or the south.  Beaches or hill country?  I decided to take whatever train left first.  This turned out to be a south bound train.  So off to the beaches I went.
This train was super crowded. As soon as it pulled up everyone made a mad scramble to get a seat.   Old ladies, monks and children suddenly became aggressive crazed lunatics in their pursuit. Not wanting a seat that badly I elected to sit on the floor by the doorway.  This turned out to be the best seat in the house.  The ride was very scenic and it paralleled the ocean the entire way.  I sat next to some school boys that were dumping water on people as the train raced past.  I had a front row seat for the action.  At one point the water missed a group of people and hit a solider with a big ass gun!    Luckily we were moving fast!
