Arriving at our friend Hilary's house was a happily anticipated event.  After continuous camping and constantly being cramped in the car, it was nice to get to the lake house and chill for a bit.   Hilary is a friend from Big Sky and he just so happened to be visiting his parents when we were passing through.  We were also meeting up with another  Big Sky  friend (Big Water and his girl)  who were on a road trip of their own.  Big Water is a traveling musician (acoustic folk) and was traversing the country to his different gigs.
Hilary's lake house was absolute perfection. It was the ideal place to relax for a couple of days.   Unbeknownst to me, the Larkins owned  a 1930's Chris Craft.  I had never heard of this type of boat but I guess its a classic collector's dream.  I took a bunch of pictures of it because everyone was in so much awe.   We spent about 5 days here cruising around on their different boats, playing lake-side wiffle ball and checking out Michigan's vineyards.  One of the local restaurant had a famous Bloody Mary called a 'Chubby'.  Basically it's your typical Bloody, but it's garnished with a dryed chubby (a type of fish).  We all got one and it was super tasty!
Hilary's parents were great hosts and arranged a BBQ for us almost every evening.   It was a unique feeling to go bar hopping by boat in the warm, summer night.  Late at night when we were gathered around the fire, Big Water would whip out his guitar and perform with the lake as his backdrop.  The combination of the location, warm fire, good friends and live music made for some memorable nights.
