New Orleans!!!!    (Chelise will add comments in brackets/parenthesis)
Our friends from Germany decided to get married there and Chelise was the maid of honor.  Anita ( the bride) is Chelise's friend from Australia and the guy she was marrying (Matt) was another friend of ours from Garmisch.  Since both bride and groom had worked in Germany this wedding was basically another Garmisch reunion.  We met up with many of our friends we had not seen since Germany and it was damn fine to hang out with them again.
Chelise and I shared a room with Emma and Nick at a hotel that most of the wedding party was staying in.  Sarah and Josh flew in from Germany and brought the golden nectar of the German beer gods.....Augustiner..  Now this may not sound like much, but ask any Garmishers what their favorite beer was in Germany and Augustiner will be the answer.  It is impossible to buy in the U.S. thus making it even more of a prized possession.   Just one taste brings back all the fond memories and good times we had there (but more than one taste makes you get 'Germany' drunk....)
Now unless you're a Garmisher this entry might be a little boring since our time in New Orleans involved catching up with old friends while eating and drinking everything in site (what about my Aussie friends who know Anita, Emma & Nick huh?).   The first night everyone gathered at a restaurant where we met the bride and groom's family over a Louisiana fried meal ( is there any other kind?)
The next day Anita and Matt tied the knot at a southern style manor they had rented for the day.  The ceremony took place in the garden with Chelise as the maid of honor.  The reception was a good-ole-time with Chelise reading a humorous toast to the bride and groom.  Inviting Garmishers to a wedding with an open bar is not very financially savvy move (we like to drink).   However, being Garmisher themselves, I'm sure the bride and groom knew what they were getting into (not to mention the fact that there were 7 Aussies there - that'll drain a bar fast).  After the reception ended we all headed down to the famous Bourbon Street to wander around and watch the festivities.  Chelise and I have been here before (on our way to Key Largo) and it was cool to see it again especially after the Hurricane Katrina.  It look and smelled exactly the same (I think the puke smell had 'washed away' slightly)!
It was great to catch up with everyone and relive our glory days of Garmisch.  A small list of people that were there (which will only be interesting to other ex-gappers) is as follows. Matt, Anita, Sarah and Josh Womack, Rhue (who was preggers) and Ron, Donny and Mike, Jake, Gay Dave, Vance, Justin Lewis, Emma and  Nick.  As you can tell from the pictures it was a GAY OLD TIME!
