We had previously heard from Cari (ex Gapper) that we could come visit her in Flagstaff seing that the Canyon is soooo close. We hadn't been able to contact her and had just hiked 9 miles out of the Canyon and were dusty & sore. We couldn't get any cell phone reception so we decided to wing it and drive to Flagstaff and hope the offer was still open and that she didn't have to leave town that weekend or something. Luckily all was good and she basically made us go back to her house to clean up and have a real shower. Her roomate and boyfriend both knew we were coming and P Diddy the dog couldn't have been happier to see us. Soon we were drinking nice wine with Hugh and watching Tom ride home in his sexy spandex. We went down to the local tavern for a huge pizza and beer with Hugh. Unfortunately we couldn't stay up too long as we were so used to going to bed soon after the sun set. We lasted for a few beers, but soon our bodies were sinking into the comfortable couches back at the house.
The next morning was very exciting for me as Tom had said he had some clippers that would cut through my cast. He'd done this himself a couple of times and said it'd be fine. I had my mind made up anyway that the cast was coming off. No more waiting and being uncomfortable. It took about 10 mins, but Ben finally got through the whole thing and we pulled it off. Yipeeeeeee!!!
Later we went for b'fast and I ate so much I nearly puked. Then we spent the day walking around town looking at shops, eating chocolate and having a drink. It was lovely and sunny and nice not to have an agenda. After eating our packet pasta for dinner and sitting outside with a beer or two we went next door where the neighbours were having a party with a few DJs, fine wines and sushi. After chatting, snacking, drinking a couple and nearly closing my throat trying to prove I could eat huge amounts of Wasabi I headed back to the comfort of the couch.
The next day we went for a drive near Sedona and plonked ourselves down on some rocks by the river while the dog ran around pretending she wanted to fetch sticks, but never bringing them back. After we'd had enough sun and a delicious lunch with fine conversation we decided it was time to head back. Today we were off to Vegas. Somehow we managed to get off in the heat of the day again, but at least we only paid $3.07 for gas in a town where it looked like we'd pay more. So far the highest price we've seen is $3.67 which is insane.
We had a great time in Flagstaff with Cari.
