I had arranged to be picked up from the airport by a guy I had meet on the internet (globalfreeloaders.com). He had asked me what airport I flew into. My ticket says Manilla. Well it turns out that it really says Manilla-CRK which really mean an airport 2 hours away from Manilla. found this out only a couple of hours before we flew there and was barely able to sqeeze off an email alerting him to abort the plan, but due to a miscommunication he still ended up waiting for us..Sorry! So we arrived at an old US military base in the middle of nowhere. Only Air Asia flies to this place so we had to improvise quickly. There was not even an ATM here so luckily Dave has some money left over from Malysia and we were able to change it to Pesos.
We decided to do the north of the country first since we were already 2 hours above Manilla and caught an 8 hours bus to the town of Bagiou that arrived at 3 in the moring. hile we were waitng for the bus (no one knew if it was going to come at all) I was able to finally eat the Phillipino specialty of hard boiled duck fetus. It bascailly looks like a common boiled eggs but when you peel it, there's a little baby duck inside, complete with feathers, bones and beak. All of these fun parts make for some fun texture in your mouth but since they are boiled they are not hard. Instead of putting salt on it you pour vinegar on it. Delicious!

glad
Glad you had a nice time here in our country though the experience is rather not a good one;that waiting and all.

The one you eat like egg is called 'balut'. It is a delicacy and taste better with a bottle of beer.

come back soon.hope you find the people friendly and wonderful, never mind the politicians here!

BALUT and CLARK
yeah... the clark airport. that's where i take off to go to malaysia. it's not really out of nowhere... it's just not as busy as baguio or metro manila. btw, did you go to metro manila? that's where i live. i hate it here... but the money's here. so.........

i love balut. it just has too much cholesterol. so i eat it once in awhile. but with salt is better than with vinegar.

baguio isn't what it used to be when i was younger. now a lot of koreans have invaded the place to learn english. also, a lot of trees have been cut down. it felt a lot more RAW when i was younger. now, it's just a smoky mountain. a bit sad. but thanks for visiting my country.

please go visit the south!!! it's different. but equally as nice as the north.
