Where I stayed
Sean & Christina's...
We were really looking forward to seeing Sean and Christina (my bruv and his lovely wife)...they met us at the airport and we headed for a drink at a very nice Mexican restaurant (Pappasito's). I had my first margarita (and second and can't remember a third??.) The food was fantastic but spicier than in UK.
Sean & Christina's house is beautiful, very large and very American (and very air-conditioned). It was also great to finally meet Stella and Livvy, their two dogs..
Over the next few days we visited (1) the Alamo, as San Antonio and the Alamo played a critical role in the Texas Revolution (very briefly, for 13 days in 1836, 32 volunteers (incl British) helped the Texians and Tejanos (less than 200 persons in total) defend the Alamo against the Mexican troops which numbered 2000+ - although they lost the battle, the Alamo symbolises their heroic struggle against overwhelming odds
On 4th July we were invited to Christina's cousin's house on the River Guadalupe. Alex and Andrea and their two gorgeous children took us out on one of their boats(!!) and we cruised up and down the river, checking out the neighbours and choosing which house we would live in (dream on!!). It was a really nice afternoon which we unfortunately had to cut short as we had to catch our flight to Las Vegas very early the following mornng..
Obviously we needed a new camera and replaced the lost one with the next model up at a cheaper price!! So photos are back on the agenda!
San Antonio is a great city with lovely, friendly people and we really enjoyed the company of Sean, Christina and their friends and we would definitely have no hesitation in visiting again..
