We arrive in Sydney at 6 in the morning after a rather sleepless journey, we camp out in a coffee shop for an hour or so and try and warm up a little as it's freezing which is quite a shock to the system after the warmth of Byron Bay! We then walk to the hostel and stand outside for a little while until it opens at 8 where we check in, dump our bags in our room where there are people still sleeping and head straight back out again after eating a little breakfast in the disgustingly dirty hostel kitchen.

Our mission for the day is to find warm clothes and after looking through most of the shops I manage to buy a short sleeved t-shirt - not quite what I was looking for but Liv's a bit more successful than I am! We then go to the Aquarium which is really good and has some really interesting displays and was definitely worth the money even if we did keep getting stuck behind American and Chinese tour groups! In the afternoon we meet up with Rene who we met in China and she takes us to the Opera house which is pretty amazing to finally see and we get the ferry out to Manly where we find a cafe and eat an amazing dinner. It's great to catch up with Rene and we have a really good evening, finished off with a trip to a Max Brenner shop - a cafe that pretty much only serves chocolate related food and drinks and smells amazing. We catch the ferry back to the city centre and say goodbye before crashing in our hotel.

The next day we go to The Rocks as Rene had suggested which is an old part of the city and because it's the weekend there's a really nice interesting market which is selling all different types of things. We spend a while wandering around and buy a few souveneers to send home. We then catch the train to Bondi and attempt to walk from Bondi to Bronte - another of Rene's suggestions. Unfortunately we don't realise that Bondi station is in fact miles away from Bondi and end up at Bronte first. But it's a nice walk back along the seafront and over the headland to Bondi as the sun is setting behind us. We then have a very long powerwalk back to the train station to meet Rene who is coming out for dinner with us to celebrate our 6 month traveling anniversary with us. She shows us where a really nice Pizzeria is and after waiting for a table for ages we eventually get our Pizza which is delicious and definitely worth the wait!

The next day we go to the RedBull Flugtag - where crazy people make things they expect to fly then hold onto them and run down a runway and fall 10meters into the harbour. The actual part where they try and fly their plane or whatever they've built is quite fun but there are big gaps in between which are rather boring and the view across the harbour to the runway is blocked somewhat by the inconsiderate people who have decided to park their boats in the way of the spectators! That evening we meet up with Amy who we also met in China and she picks us up and takes us to her house in Newtown, a different part of Sydney. We head out to get some dinner where Rene meets up with us. We have a really good meal in an Asian veggie place and it's great fun to see Amy again and catch up on what everyone has been up to since China. After a good night we say goodbye to them both and head back to our hostel.

For our last day in Sydney we wander around going backwards and forwards through Sydney looking for bits and bobs that we still needed to get, I think we must have walked the length and bredth of Sydney a couple of times over!  Liv goes to visit some distant relation of hers so after posting some things home I spend the rest of the day relaxing and reading. We have a quiet evening in and pack ready to leave the next morning and say goodbye to Oz!
