After I had a rather long lie in - Liv left me to sleep and had a shower and went on the internet, we packed our rucksacks up again and set off to the hotel where we were joining our tour - The Chongwenmen Hotel. Just a bit nicer than our 4 bed dorm the previous night as we have our own bathroom and tv and an alright view over Beijing (and lots of light switches, towels and everything says Liv). We headed towards the silk market, loads of small stalls within a huge multi storey building where we were constantly harrassed by shop assistants trying to drag us into their stall and sell us their ties, silk scarves and fake northface coats. We ran away pretty quickly from there too! We walked back to the hotel via the Ming City Wall - the old wall protecting the city which had a relaxing garden type thig running alongside it.

In the evening we met the rest of our tour group to discuss what is happening over the next few days. Our group is made up of Fredrick and Louise (2 Swedes), Leo, Melissa, Kate, Irene and Amy from Australia and 3 other Brits Helena, Emma and Kirsten who all seem friendly and look forward to spending more time getting to know them. As a group we went to dinner to try Peking Duck - not great for a Veggie but luckily Melissa is also vegetarian so we are shunted off onto a smalle table and order seperately and have corn and pine nut panckaes, eggplant on glass noodles and mange tout in garlic suace with rice. Dinner was less exciting than the previous night but alot tastier!
