Classes started today for us--we each had one. Mine was a Fashion Theory & Market Context class (it was pretty interesting...we're learning about the history of fashion and all the trend cycles) and Ben had his Community Sport and Recreation Practice class. From the little that he said, I'm pretty sure he enjoyed his too.
The structure of their classes are much different here. We have two separate "meetings"-one is called a Lecture which usually lasts between 1 & 2 hours (and is a much larger group) and the other is called a Seminar which is only about an hour and consists of much smaller groups to get the one-on-one interaction with the teacher. This week is still called "Freshers" week so we only have Lectures; however, next week begins Seminars and Lectures.
I had an offer tonight to go to a volleyball tryout for the school. I just thought it was for an intramural team; but here it was equivalent to a university team. It was so much fun. I forgot how much I missed playing volleyball. In the end, I made the team. So now I have practice every Thursday from 7:30-9 and games on every Sunday every weekend until the weekend we leave to come home in December. The Men's team is D1 and the Women's team is D2 (however they're hoping to move up to D1 this year). We'll be traveling around Scotland to play the various schools so I'm pretty excited. It should definitely be an experience.
There's not any plans for the weekend as of now really-except there's a "freebie giveaway" on campus Friday and Saturday so I think we're all going to go to that to see what all we can get. haha. Today they were giving out free vegetables out of a horse drawn cart (I didn't actually see it but one of our flatmates got some of the veggies..I'm sure that was a sight to see).
Things are going great here for us-we really love it. We're getting to experience so many opportunities. I'm still shocked at being engaged (yikes we're really growing up) but it's so exciting at the same time :)
I'm so glad everyone's enjoying the blogs :) Whoever invented this was a pure genius! We love and miss you all! And can't wait to see you in December. Hope all is well back across the pond!! Cheers!!
