We arrived in the small town of Winton and headed to the Waltzing Matilda museum and café for a good coffee and some chocolate mudcakes. From there we set off on the Route of the River Gum. Along the route we took a side track on the Scrammy drive with it's scenic views where we had lunch. There are worse places to have lunch!!! In the afternoon we arrived at our campsite along the river. First thing on the agenda was to build our camp fire. Whilst there were no amenities other than a very basic compost toilet, it was a fantastic spot to camp. The kids spent the next day in the river with their inflatable boat. When the weather turned a bit cold and cloudy, we packed up our camp on the third day and made our way to the Quark Larry dinosaur museum which was about 88km along a rough gravel road. 160km roundtrip is a bit of a trek but the museum was fascinating as it has the best preserved dinosaur footprints in the world. In actual fact, these footprints were used for the animation in the Jurassic Park movie.
