We have survived a week in Rio without being mugged which seems to be the biggest worry for everyone. We have made it to a soccer game at what Iīve been told is the largest stadium in the world, been to Corcovado (the statue of Christ on the hill overlooking Rio), wandered the city and museums, listened to some great spanish guitarists and traditional musicians, danced our butts off at the clubs and managed to sneak in a couple hours at the beach. Itīs been a great trip so far!
Eric and I are getting along great as travel partners so I believe we will make it through the two months without pushing each other into a piranha infested river somewhere. We were set up with friends of friends in Rio and were so lucky to meet all of them. Really has made life easy and itīs always more fun to see a city with people who know it.
The weather is the only thing not holding out on us. It actually snowed up in the mountains quite a bit further south and everyone is telling us how unusual this is. Luckily we have two months to get some sunshine so we are doing fine but weīve met a couple other travelers who are crushed as they only got a day in at the beach on their trip. Tomorrow Evie and I are heading north and itīs in the 100īs up there so we are actually enjoying the cooler weather right now.
I hope to write more soon.

Hey Scott!
Take pics and send any if you can. Glad you both are enjoying yourselves. Miss you here. At ST, Vernon quit, Hugh did too, and another re-org is suppose to happen. I think I should follow your lead... ;-)
Keep safe! Ray and Meade.
Ola!
Glad to hear you are having a great trip, Scott. Keep me posted and continue to have fun!

Envy is a sin, Scott,
but you do provoke it anyway. I do envy you your wonderfully balanced approach to life--and Brazil.
Love,
Les
