Lamentably, mom and Josh are too technologically inept to create their own travel blog to document their journey to the Firetower off of Pine Street in Medfield, Massachusettes. I felt selfish being the only person to receive this email from Josh giving his account of this epic adventure. I will donate one entry to in the spirit of generosity to the telling of this tale.
weekend was ok.
your mom and I had lunch w/ cousin Muriel on Saturday and yesterday we went up to the fire tower. we joked about doing a travel log describing our ascent and descent, but have no clue how to do so.
but otherwise it was quite the ordeal.
it was probably a bone chilling 60 degrees, with a fierce wind and bright sun, w/ nothing but blue skies overhead.
and the ascent was straight up and the descent straight down.
then we encountered natives coming and going.
one pair of natives had 3 dawgs, and I was slimed by one.
yuck.
then the fire tower was being guarded by a pack of MHS students.
after Duke chased them all away, the final ascent took place.
it was a steep and arduous climb, and your mom opted to pass but I persevered clear to the top.
and was greeted by a spectacular view.
and then it was down, down to our base camp and then the many minute ride to home and the Giants game.
a successful adventure and fortunately we suffered zero casualties, other than the slime.
Well done Mom and Josh, well done.
