Hey guys, its Brad! I figure i'd get this party started right and let you know whats up on our front! So after 2 years of thought and MONTHS of serious planning, our departure is only 12 hours away. Serious planning meaning we looked at a map of Europe and watched great movies like National Lampoon's European Vacation, Eurotrip, and Babe 2: Pig in the City. Such great movies, and one of them always seems to bring John to tears (that Pig is so damn inspirational!) Ive been packed for weeks it seems, but I think John will be done packing 5 minutes before take-off. BUT thats what makes us the original "odd couple". That, and blue spandex.
As you all know, some small-peckered a-holes decided their lives suck so bad and that they have to make all of our lives miserable by making bombs out of lipstick and Wetwipes! And that has unfortunately made the WHOLE airport security a long ordeal. Well we never realized (due to the fact that we dont read good and all) that Expedia had only planned a 1.5 hour layover after our flight from Raleigh RDU to NY JFK before our flight to London takes off... NOT good news. So in a frantic attempt to have an earlier flight to NY, John and I made about 15 phone calls trying to figure stuff out. Then we handed the phone to an adult (Dane, John's stepdad) and 10 minutes later we were booked on a earlier flight, no extra charge. Thanks Dane, you tha man! So now instead of flying out of Raleigh at 3:30 and arriving at 4:45 with a flight to London leaving at 6:15pm, we will now be leaving at 1:30pm from RDU giving us an extra 2 hours. That should be PLENTY of time, unless John asks for "extra" full-cavity searches. So with that taken care of, I'm sure nothing else will be a problem for the rest of the 92 day trip! Ok, love all ya guys and here's John to add a little bit of whats on his mind, which i guarantee, cant be much! See you in Germany!?!
So we have only a few hours left after at least 3.5 solid hours trip of preparation during these past two years. You can guess that we are very excited, by the fact that weve been waiting so long for the trip...that and Brad has been wetting the bed for the past 2 weeks...but nonetheless tomorrow is the big day. We hit our first speed bump with the flight situation, and it proved to be a minor glitch...lets hope it stays that way. Weve been tying up loose ends with family friends for the past week or so, and this weekend was def the best way to go out...I got to see my Wilmington and Boone kids at the beach and still had time among all the craziness to get out to Masonboro island with the family and say goodbye to everybody...great times, but the tuffest part of the trip will be not seeing everyone for three months...but i guess its the price you pay to follow a dream...but enough about that...tomorrow will be the begining of a new page of world history. Who knows what the next few months have in store for us, but im pretty sure it'll be nothing we could have ever planned, so stay tuned and leave us a message if you like what you read. We'll do our best to document all the craziness, because some day when your kids are reading about all this in the history books, you can tell them you heard it first....right here!

way with words
Brad, I see KK isn't the only one with a way with words. Maybe when you get back, the two of you need to write for a comedy show.
Take care,
Aunt Merrill
