This morning we said farewell to our cycling friends who are now heading off all over the world. Only a couple are going back to Oz. Some are going on a cruise like us, or hiring a car and spending more time in France. It is such a long way to come, might as well make the most of it while you are here.
After a coffee and pastry at the local shop we headed by bus to the train station. The first train was a regional one between Saumur and Angers. The next was a TGV from Angers to Le Mans. From here we boarded a very crowded regional train to Vitre which is the stop before Rennes. Lots of young people on the train travelling home for the weekend.
We were met by our host Yoann who had stayed with us in Narooma as a Couchsurfing guest earlier in the year. He drove us back to his unit where we caught up with Carole. Unfortunately Carole had to work tonight as she is a nurse and has a 12 hour shift. But we will see her tomorrow after she has had a sleep in the morning.
We are staying at Yoann's parents home as their unit is a little small for guests. Nelly and Daniel (and Cookie the dog) have welcomed us into their home which is in the small village of St Germain du Pinel, outside Vitre. After savoury galletes for dinner with the traditional filling - ham, cheese and egg; or pork sausage (made by Carole's parents on their farm) with mustard or ketchup (sorry forgot to take photos) we had a lovely dessert made by Carole - little cakes with custard and ice-cream.
Then Yoann took us with his mother to see some traditional Brittany dancing with members of a club he and Carole belong to. Colin chose not to volunteer tonight sighting he had a 'bone in his leg'!!! My excuse was that I was the photographer! The video clip I have included has Yoann dancing in the blue and white striped top.
At midnight we headed home! A late night and a big storm during the night with lots of thunder and lightening. Max would not have liked it!
