Another great day for sightseeing and cycling. Although the sun didn't come out it didn't rain either!
First stop today was the very picturesque Chateau Chenonceau. Built over the River Cher this Chateau is known as the 'Ladies Castle' due to the number of women who lived there and/or were involved in its building or reconstruction. The two most famous were Catherine de Medici, Henri II's widow and Diane de Pointiers, his mistress. Both have gardens named after them.
We visited here 15 years ago but still marvelled at the amazing tapestries that adorned the walls and the beautiful fresh flowers that are placed in every room. See photos for examples.
Following our visit to the chateau the group met in the picnic area for lunch - most enjoyable.
Then it was off to Loches. We caught up with the riders along the way and waited to cheer them on. Col was the first to come along so we gave him a big cheer. Then we waited and waited for the remainder to arrive but they didn't appear. Apparently they took a wrong turn or two!!! They arrived in Loche some 2 hours after Col arrived! Guess there needs to be some map reading lessons tonight!
After drinks at the hotel 6 of us went into the main town for a pizza - needed a break from the rich French food.
Tomorrow is the longest ride - 58 Km's - so it's an early night tonight.

Heather,
Really enjoying the blog. Want more about fishing and eating (neglecting descriptions of Pizza and MacFroggie big Macs).
Did it occur to you that they may have been trying to "lose" Colin?
Unkind! Sorry.
More about consumed Fois Grass and Pouilly Foose pls.
Baillie
