The Cinque Terre or the 5 lands in English. Beautiful, quaint fishing villages clinging to the side of the sheer rock faces as the Mediterranean gentle laps the base of those cliffs. Over-run with American tourists but also a fave for Italians. Minimal cars are allowed and there is a walking trail and a train that links the 5 villages together from Monterosso to Riomaggiore. Myself and 3 Aussie girls headed out there for Easter, staying in the lovely Manarola that was quickly renamed Motorola. We stayed in 2 lovely little apartments that had great views over the village and Med and spent the days walking along the trail and eating fresh sea food and pasta - delicious!

Cinque Terre
Hey Hess,
Cinque Terre are amazing aren't they? I am Italian but my first there was only in 2005, passing by on my up from Rome.
Are you still traveling or are you back in London? I live in London too, but have traveling around the US for the past two months...check my travelogue here:

Take care,

Cinque Terre è Bello!
I'm glad to see you visited Cinque Terre. It truly is beautiful there! I was there in late 2005 and did it all! Hiked until I almost died(!), drank delicious wine at each town, swam in the Mediterranean, and had a great meal. I am happy you got to experience our beautiful planet in the most beautiful place country! Enjoy more travels!
BTW - It's buonA pasqua (with an A) :-)
Re: Cinque Terre
Hello D,
You mention you are traveling around the US as of August. Are you still in the US now ~ October? I live in Oregon and plan a trip to Italy in 2008. The actual dates are not decided yet. As you also live in Italy, I thought it would be helpful to connect.
Smiling!
