It is bright and early here in Wroclaw, Poland. We drove our Ford Fiesta from Dresden, Germany to Wroclaw yesterday arriving at about 1:30pm. I got the Fiesta up to 170km/hr on the Autobahn! We immediately noticed that Poland is a lesser-developed country. Many of the buildings along this drive were very run down. There were large apartment buildings, some ten stories high, that seemed to crop up out of nowhere. They were concrete and each flat was painted with a different bright color. I have a feeling these are remnants from the Soviet-era. Very sad looking.

We spent a lot of the day eating and people-watching in the city square. People here dress pretty wild. We had traditional Polish dishes- mine was a plate of dumplings with a cheese filling and bacon. It was excellent! The beer here is all Pilsner which is not my favorite. The Square is huge!!! It was packed too. Great first day here. Much to see tomorrow.

This morning I walked to the square at about 5am. There were tons of young people still partying or stumbling around. I even saw two clubs that were still going. The church bells sounded at 6am and several people broke out into drunken song. Well I am off too search for something close to coffee. Wish me luck :)

PS- I posted a couple of pics from Dresden on the last blog entry.
