In Bratislava we stayed with Geordie's friend Martina who gave us a guided tour of the town centre which was great. There are lots of statues around which we set out to find and take typical touristy pics of (yes, we had to) and enjoyed views of hte city from the top of Michaels Tower, one of the entry points to the medieval old town. Unfortunately the castle was closed off due to the presidential conference so no views from there.
Weather was really hot so we enjoyed lunch by river in shaded outdoor cafe and later ice cream in town. For dinner we met up with Martina's sister who we had met earlier and helped her decide on wedding dresses for her upcoming nuptials and went to a huge outdoor pub that unfort. had live country music but smells wafting from open BBQs were divine. Place was obviously short of waiters tho as we were being blatantly ignored as the 3 waiters for about 100 tables rushed around us. Went instead to nearby student pub where Geordie and Martina patiently picked out the 'healthy' bits from their meals before we all shared a 'vase' of Long Island Ice Tea, complete with long colourful straws sangria bucket style. Very fun and lots of pics.
The next day we go tthe hydrofoil boat down the 'blue' danube to budapest where we spent 1 night (that avo we did 2 hour city tour) before G went back to Bratislava and me onwards to meet Jean in Heviz.
