It's been a while since I've posted (no one is surprised about that), but things have started happening again so it's time for another!

After a three day trip last week with Kyle to Baguio (a city in the northern region of the Philippines that sits on top of a mountain range) and Hundred Islands (y'all can figure that one out), I spent a few days relaxing and doing nothing at my dads. Well, I did get kidnapped again by his wife's friends - they stuffed me full of more Filipino food and then we put on 90s hip hop and danced in the living room for two hours- no joke.

But this morning, I woke up at 3:30am to catch a plane to Singapore. I had most of the afternoon and evening to wander (sleepily) around the city, and had a great time doing it. I haven't seen the whole city by a long shot, so my perspective may change, but so far I really like it here. It's a great mix of cultures - my hostel is in Little India, and is right down the street from two beautiful Hindu temples, but it's also close to Chinatown - there's Chinese tea houses across the street from my hostel - and you can also hear the call to prayer throughout the day from the nearby mosques.

I'm writing this while sitting outside at one of the above mentioned Chinese tea houses, drinking beer (because beer > tea), watching guys practice tai chi and boxing at a gym next door, and reminiscing about the days when I used to exercise...

I'll be in Singapore for another day or two, and then I'm taking a train to Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. This whole first chunk of my trip almost got nixed because of extreme air pollution and smog that both Singapore and Malaysia have been suffering from, as a result of land-clearing fires in Sumatra (the third place I'm going, hoorah). The pollution levels in Singapore reached dangerous levels a couple days ago, but have since gone down, while the current pollution levels in Malaysia are even higher than Singapore's worst days. I'm hoping they'll also go down by the time I get there, but we'll see.

As usual, the pics will be more interesting than my blabber. Night y'all!
