Well, happy Christmas from a slightly rainy Wellington!!! How strange it feels to be having christmas in the summer... Sadly, it's not scorchingly hot and I wasn''t at the beach having a bbq, but hey I had a great day! The morning started well, with pancakes in bed courtesy of one of my roommates who works on a crepe stand - they were spot on!! That was soon followed by opening pressies - ta very much mum and dad; it was great to have pressies to open on Christmas day!! I even got the obligatory Terrys Choc Orange from Kate, one of my other room mates at the hostel.
Then it was time to crack open the beers and get myself prepared for some awesome scran - proper good it was! Turkey, roast spuds, roasted veg, chicken breasts, salad, so much stuff I can't even remember. So obviously I did the usual and got completely stuffed. One of the girls who works at the hostel is Swedish and she made up some mulled wine stuff which was real tasty, although I think it would have worked a little better if I'd been drinking it in the cold!
No xmas pud today, instead it was fruit trifle and choc pavlova - lovely jubbly. Basically the day was just spent eating great food and getting more than a little drunk - as I realised I'd drunk about 10 beers and about 2 bottles of sparkling wine. But it was a great christmas, although it really didn't feel like christmas without the proper roast, xmas pud, crackers with silly hats and bad jokes and being freezing cold!
But I really enjoyed my Kiwi christmas; and have to say that I wouldn't mind another Christmas in the southern hemisphere......
