What a nightmare morning!! When I had planned what my last day in the Uk would be like before I headed for the other side of the world, I had in mind feeling calm but a little nervous, and really excited.
Instead I ended up feeling panicky, angry and really nervous!! This was mostly due to me fussing trying to upload music onto my new zen mp3 player... And I thought that I was never one to leave things to the last minute... I was planning on having an early night the night before, but ended up meeting with Paul in Manchester where I decided to stay for a couple of drinks, and then had the additional entertainment watching Paul be sick all the way to the car!! He was quite masterful in managing to contain his vomit to the single yellow lines - a neat trick.
Anyway, I digress. Basically I was a babbling mess by the time my dad finally dragged me into the car to get me to the airport. Luckily, Dave was there to calm me down, and this did work a little... Until I got to the airport, said my goodbyes to mum and dad, and then started to panic coz I couldn't find my tickets. I thought I'd left them in the car so had to phone mum to get her to come back with them, only to find that I'd had them all along..... Great stuff.
Anyway, I finally calmed myself down and headed to check in my bags. This was the first step of my big journey... I was finally on my way to New Zealand!! Well, kind of anyway. Thankfully, the flight to Heathrow and boarding my plane to Hong Kong was pretty uneventful, apart from feeling so nervous!!
It was only until I was sat in my really uncomfy seat on the Cathy Pacific plane that I realised I'd forgotten my flight socks -aaaaargh!! After a panic (again) I pulled up the socks that I had on up to mid-calf length and tried to get comfy for the long flight..
The best bit of the flight was flying over China - could see loads of tiny little villages near the rivers, it was awesome. As was looking at the mountains, amazing views!!
