Off to Bled, and Lake Bled, which is in the north west of Slovenia and in the Julian Alps, which are actually named after Julius Ceasar.  I hopped on the bus for the one and a half hour journey which took us through some great Slovenian scenery, although I probably missed some as I kept dozing off - I'd had a pretty rubbish night sleep due to the world's loudest snorer being in my dorm room...  Anyways, the bus pulled up and we all piled out, me looking around for some idea of where my hostel might be.... up a steep hill of course.  The hostel was above a bar called the George Best Bar, which is bizarrely filled with George Best memorabilia, including a rather rubbish mural which I found quite amusing.  I've no idea why the bar is called that, the owner is Slovenian and his favourite English football team is Arsenal....
Backpack dumped, I headed down the hill for my first glimpse at the lake, and it was beautiful!!  The water is so unbelievably clear, and the little island with the Church of the Assumption looked so pretty.  I was so glad it lived up to my expectations.  I didn't do very much for the rest of that afternoon, my neck was sore from sleeping funny and my foot is a bit dodgy from all the walking I think, so it was good to just relax by the lake.
The next day I planned to see the castle, and relax by the lake, so waking up to a lovely sunny day was super.  I started the day with the steep walk up to the castle which is on a hill overlooking the lake.  It cost €6 to get in, so I thought, sod that, took a couple of pictures of the mountains and headed back down, laughing at an American couple on the way: 'Honey, we must be the only people walking in Europe without water right now'...  Then I took a nice leisurely stroll around the lake, stopping frequently to take piccies, the views were so amazing.  The walk is about 6km in all, so it took me a couple of hours.  I still can't really fathom why they decided it would be a good idea to build a church on an island in a lake...  (the little island is the only one in Slovenia, which they seem to be proud of saying a lot; it's not really that much of a surprise though, considering that the country only has 47km of shoreline).  You can actually go on a gondola and visit the island for €10, but I skipped that, and you can also hire a row boat for about €10 an hour, but I gave that one a wide berth too.

Get on with it
Stop pretending you have entries. 'Will update soon' just doesn't hack it. So get on with it.

Re: Get on with it
I'm sorry... but sometimes I can't remember what I've actually been doing, things just merge into one another. I will try harder when I have more time not seeing the sights in places and having fun... xx
