Last night's food was grim when I ate it and just as bad when I woke up in the middle of the night to throw it up and down the toilet.  Nice.  So when Kat's alarm went off at 6.45am I barely noticed and didn't wake to say bye to them.  I eventually got up at 9 and threw my stuff in the rucksack and headed back into Rome Termini to get my train ticket to Ancona, where I would be catching the ferry to Split in Croatia.  The guy at the ticket desk said 'English' before I had even said a word, is it really that obvious?!  As I had a couple of hours to spare til the train I decided to leave my bag in left luggage at the station, what a nightmare, I had to queue for over an hour...  Some English lads were in front of me, they looked about 15, and I listened in to their conversation, one of the guys bag weighed only 5kg, imagine!!  Mine is about 15kg at least, try that sonnie.  Think I'm gonna have calves of steel and shoulders like Arnie by the time I get home with all this lugging my bag around :)
Finally on the train at 15.40 in my designated seat, as usual, some weirdo sits next to me and starts talking in Italian at me, stinking of booze. I tried to ignore him, but it didn't work, so I eventually just said (in Italian) 'I'm English', and he thankfully went away, after saying English, English.... Odd-ball.  The trains in Italy seem so much better than the ones in England from my experience, and so much cheaper: it was over 3 hours to get from Rome to Ancona yet the ticket only cost €23, bargain.  Also, the seat I had was really large, loads of leg room.
The scenery was ok out of the window, it seemed to get greener the further north we went.  Near the stop before Ancona there was a strip of beach, with loads of volley ball courts and people playing football and having parties, it looked great.  The train was a little late getting into Ancona, so I walked as fast as I could to the bus station, and jumped on a bus to the ferry port..... turned out the ferry would be an hour late to leave anyways, so I needn't have rushed.
I bagged my seat in the designated 'air seat' area, and no it wasn't an inflatable chair or anything exciting like that.  For some bizarre reason, just behind the area was the deck outside with some kind of 'disco' going on, blaring out all the best European hits: Scatman, etc, I'm sure you can imagine.  Playing in the lounge where I was, the most bizarre game show I have ever seen, I have absolutely no idea what the concept of it was, but it involved some thing with a massive red head and a blue / white stripey suit, weird.
I sorted myself out and prepared for a crap nights sleep, doh.
