We got up very early Tuesday morning (somewhere in the region of 5.15am), and went to drop the car off at the long term car park.  After being taken to Heathrow Airport by the car park company bus, we got checked in and sorted the bags out.  We then tucked into a filling breakfast of Sausage butties and hash browns

Waiting for the flight went really quickly and getting through customs was fairly easy.  I set off the metal detector as I went through and I am still not quite sure how.

The flight was a piece of cake, it took just short of 7 hours, we arrived at 12.15pm (5.15pm British time).  I watched Monsters Vs Aliens, some Tv including an odd HBO comedy show called 'East Bound and Down' and the disappointing 'Lesbian Vampire Killers' on the plane.

We caught a taxi ride to our hotel, the New Yorker, in the middle of Manhattan, it caost about $50, so it ain't a particulary cheap way to travel, but it is the quickest and after a 7 hour flight thats what you want.  Once we got to the hotel we found out that we couldn't check in until 3.00pm so we dumped our luggage and went for a wander, I tried but failed miserably to find Times Square, Channy ended up guiding me to it, she has taken to New York extremely well.

We ended the day by eating at Bubba Gump Shirmp restrauant.  The meals were large but tasty and we made a pact that it was absolutly ok to not finish our meals in this country.  I think the most off putting things was that they put the calorie content with each meal, my meal (the one with chips) had 1300 calories.  Not good.

We ended up crashing at about 9.30pm that night after 21 hours up from the morning before, we were knackered.
