Today started with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Permian Basin Memorial - Daryl was a member of the Honor Guard - this is quite a place. It is quite moving. It has a huey, 3 soldiers, an eternal flame, and a wall of names of fallen soldiers. Louis Tijerina "Watching Wolf", Chief of the Comanche Nation, did a traditional Native American blessing of the memorial. There were several 'spiritual sage blessers' doing blessings of the riders and bikes. Then it wasa off to Big Spring for the Vietnam Memorial for another wreath laying ceremony. And this time, it was ME that was a member of the Honor Guard - I got to do the wreath! I was scared to death - I have never done an honor guard before - but was proud to do it. Then it was off to Colorado City to the Convenience Center for the Childrens Program and lunch. The day ends in Weatherford, at the American Legion post. We had more rain, and the legion had a lot of rock and wet grass to park on, so it was a little tricky getting the bikes in and out of the parking area. Sure glad Daryl made me practice so much on gravel!
