Once again we are heading down the mountain this time towards Dole.

It snowed again overnight so there is a small layer of snow on the ground. No wonder it felt so cold last night. We make footprints across the square to the centre where we will once again eat our meal.

We have breakfast in the lodge and my friends of last night come in for their meal. I wish them all a successful journey and then it is time for us to leave. I did manage to say good morning in French and followed it with goodbye as we begin our journey down to Dole. ( after I took a photo)

It is about a 4 mile walk today but even so at altitude and rest stops it still will take about four to five hours especially if I take photos and videos as we go. We should arrive early afternoon and as we go down my breathing is getting easier.

As we climb up the path out of the valley I look back to see a hive of activity at our overnight lodge as everyone was making preparations to leave for Gokyo. ( We of course are travelling the other way.)  A layer of snow is visible and it is hard to believe that in about an hour all the snow will have gone. I am still walking fairly slowly as any faster and my cough returns but apart from that I am not feeling ill.

Ashok has finally found the bag with the kite in it but as yet we have not given it a test run. ( I had transfered it to the top of the bag which will make it easier to find later on.)  Just before we reach our final destination of the day we stop for a rest and a Polo Mint ( I brought them over from the UK and both Ashok and Bhimsem like them). From where we stopprd we can see a small waterfall, what a difference from the waterfalls we saw last year. The paths are all dusty with no snow on them at all and we can see our route clearly ahead of us ( no following Yak tracks like last year.)

Again early afternoon sees us arriving at our destination of Dole and we will be staying at the same place as when we went up. I remember to take a picture this time of the display case in the corner of the room showing climbing equipment used between the 50's and 70's. In the corner can be seen a picture of Sir Edmund Hillary which is the first sign of a tribute to his death earlier this year that I had seen.

As usual it is a drink of tea followed by a meal and as we have loads of time both Ashok and Bhimsen do some washing as there is a good breeze and I sit and watch them. When they have finished and have hung their clothes on the washing line Ashok goes to get the kite.

As none of us have tried to fly the kite before we have great fun as the instruction are for a more serious kite (kite surfing) but this is a basic kite suitable for a child aged 10years and above.  They make several atemps at getting it to fly but I am unsure which way up it should be. The ladies that run the lodge watch with amusement as they try to gey it in the air. Another guest a German who is also laughing at what they are doing explains that they need to spin it round. When we realise what he means ( it was upside down) they try again. After several more tries they finally manage to get the kite in the air much to everyones amusement. It turns out it was great for entertainment as opposed to playing cards all afternoon until the evening meal. They finally gave up for the day as they were getting cold but at least they enjoyed themselves.

Tomorrow is the start of the Nepalese New Year 2065 and I did point out that we would not be able to fly it at Porste Tenga where we stayed overnight by the river on our journey up as there would not be such a clear ground. We could fly it before we leave in the morning but it is another long day tomorrow and it is better to walk early so that there is no rush to hurry and be liable to have an injury.

Once again as it gets cold we all sit around the fire and talk about the Nepalese elections and how far everyone has walked today. Then after everyone has eaten its off to bed.
