The trip from Salta to the Atacama in Chile is a long and boring bus journey (7am to 8pm, and only one film, that's just mean), but the scenery we drove through was so gorgeous I thought it deserved it's own blog post.  These pictures were all taken through the bus window, and as we snoozed a lot of the way (John an impressive 3 times) we probably missed alot of good stuff too

About three hours out of Salta the road started to wind up the side of a mountain, eventually reaching 4300 metres (to give you a sense of scale, Ben Nevis is about 1700m high), it then drove through salt flats and past tiny villages until the border.  As we reached the desert the sun started to set, turning everything bright orange and then pastelly pinks and blue as it went down.  It was so pretty the views more than made up for the cold two hour wait at customs when we arrived.
