Another second time arounder, it was just as chilled.  No Liz and Stuart this time, meaning no electronica night with cheap whiskey, meaning no falling out of a top bunk, meaning no blood on the  sheets etc etc.

What we did do was have long, blissful walks along the beach - washed up dead seals beat dead penguins 5 to 2, plenty of live seals too.  A local dog was ours  for the day -  the Uruguayan dogs are probably the friendliest we've found anywhere, the experience somewhat ruined when the dog found, carried, rolled on and then ate the smelliest dead fish imaginable.

Elsewhere in the village we stumbled upon a local campaign to stop 60 houses being bulldozed.  It was all due to happen the day we left - hope the villagers were successful.

Cabo Polonia  is a wild  bit of coast populated with hippies and artistic types from Montevideo.  It works in a brightly painted, recycled rubbish, cobbled together, chickens and kids running around sort of way.  The journey there - on a souped up beach buggy, truckie sort of  thing - was certainly a highlight.  Wish the ride to work was as much fun.

We celebrate 16 glorious years together with a feast of mussel and fish empanadas (so much nicer than they sound).  Back at the hostel we serve Caipirinhas  all round  after we perfected the recipe in Brazil, chowed on steak - indoor barbeques are definitely the future, and sat talking and listening to music all night with the lovely  folks who work the hostel, surely one of the best places we've stayed in 2 years.  The last 5 of us made it down to the beach for sunrise.  All rather blissful.
