Flag of Chile  , Los Lagos,
Sunday, January 2, 2011

Thirty two hours, count em, to get here. Strictly an overnighter, Puerto Montt is indeed a bit like Deadwood - clapped out clapboard houses, dive bars, lots of lary looking drunks, shouters and cryers.  A quick dinner, a quick beer, movie in bed and we´re off on the bus to better places.

Our first impressions of Chile -  The president, Sebastian Piñera whose photo is everywhere, looks enough like Robert Kilroy-Silk to be  unnerving, creepy.

The people are not as obviously friendly as in Argentina, instead they take a bit longer to warm up.

They speak really really quickly, as in impossible to understand a bloody word unless you beg them to slow down.
