We slept in late today, and it felt sooooo good. It was much needed and a nice treat after being on something of a schedule for such a long while. Shortly after getting up, Pete took off for the marina to take a look at Jon and Arline's engine. Caleb and I were content to just hang out on Hejira, so we did just that. I must have ready about 200 pages of my book - it was awesome. And at one point, I even took a little swim - it was chilly, but it felt good! Caleb played guitar, and it was a really relaxing afternoon just chilling out.
After a while, we weren't really worried, but we did start to wonder where Pete was... About half an hour later, Caleb said, "Here he comes. Looks like he's got some people with him." I assumed it was just one of the couples from last night, maybe coming to see the boat or something? As they approached and I came up to take a look, we coulds ee that it was Judy and Steve from Hey Jude giving Peter a tow. Apparently the dinghy had been intaking oxygen instead of gasoline. Pete had made it part way out of the marina before he'd had to row. Not having any tools on him, he had no way to fix it.
Judy and Steve hung out for a while, eventually joined by Arline and Jon, and we all chatted while Pete fiddled with the outboard. There was a small crack under the zip tie that was holding the hose on. Once he sliced that small portion off, he was able to get it running, no problem. The other two couples scooted off to do some dinghy exploration and we settled in for a quick lunch before going ashore.
We took the dinghy over toward Bullocks Harbour. There was one little section where a few boats were tied up, so we followed suit, tied up, and climbed the rocks up to the road. We walked through the town but, seeing as it's Sunday, it was pretty dead. A few churches, a police station, a school, a liquor store, and a few spots that looked like grocery stores and/or restaurants. We wandered around for a while and got the lay of the land before heading back out to the boat - we grabbed the computer to scoot over to the marina to attempt an internet update for you all, but it was all locked up. We would have to wait! After a quick use of the shore head, we took the dinghy back out to Hejira and chilled a bit before bed. We're making it an earlier night tonight - seeing as 2200 let us sleep in so late, we want to get up and make the most of the day tomorrow!
All is well.
