Where I stayed
Summer Hotel Satakunta
Helsinki as a city is quite small which is why i decided to cut my trip short and go to Tallinn in Estonia. The city it sekf is made up of some beautiful old buliding but with a mixture of modern and when combined does seem to be out of place.
The senate square where there is the Helsinki cathedral and other buildings is good to see and is where many tourists congregate, the city centre itself is small but has these cool trams which is part of the public transport you can use. i found the market square, this is where there are a bunch of market stalls selling various things ranging from fresh food, clothes and hand made ornaments. These stalls are sitauated near the harbour but due to the bad weather you couldnt see it it at's best
The highlight of Helsinki by far had to be when i went on a boat to see the Suomenlinna maritime fortress aka Gilbraltar of the north
It was a nice hostel, it was clean and the staff were really helpful, and very close to the city. it also had free breakfast which also turned into a free lunch as i would make a couple of sandwiches for the rest of the day, i know your thinking cheap arse but i am on a budget and scandanvia is messing it up.
I met some cool people here are a few justin - big dude from toronto, douglas from middlesbrough not sure about the speedos, christina - likes to take the piss and many others. we went on a few good nights out, but we didnt seem to find the best places to go as they were quite empty. One thing that did annoy me is how they pour 0.4ltr when you order a beer but give you get a pint glass, dont know why but it just looks like the glass is three quaters full. Any way i am done, next stop estonia and i will update you soon,
